METRICS
Which data would you like to understand?
Choose a category. Each card explains the metric and includes an answer you can expand.
Volume
How much work you performed during a training session or match.
Total distance
MetresThe total distance covered during the session, expressed in metres.
What is total distance used for?
It quantifies the total volume of work performed during a training session or match and helps you understand how much you moved.
To assess session intensity too, consider high-speed distance, sprints and changes of pace together.
High-speed distance
Above 15 km/hThe distance covered above 15 km/h, expressed in kilometres.
What does high-speed distance quantify?
It shows how far you travelled above 15 km/h. It helps you assess more demanding actions, such as runs in behind, defensive recovery runs and transitions.
Sprints
Above 25 km/h · at least 1 sThe number of bursts above 25 km/h sustained for at least one second.
What do sprints represent?
These are bursts where you exceed 25 km/h for at least one second. They help you assess very high-intensity actions, often seen in open spaces and decisive moments of play.
Acceleration distance
Acceleration > 2 m/s²The metres covered while increasing speed with acceleration above 2 m/s².
What does acceleration distance measure?
It measures the metres covered while rapidly increasing speed, above the 2 m/s² threshold.
It helps you assess the work involved in changes of pace, including small-sided drills. Consider it alongside deceleration distance.
Deceleration distance
Deceleration < −2 m/s²The metres covered while slowing down with deceleration below −2 m/s².
What does deceleration distance indicate?
It measures the metres covered while rapidly reducing speed, below the −2 m/s² threshold. It highlights braking and movement-control actions, which require substantial eccentric muscle work.
Intensity
How work is distributed relative to the total distance covered.
These metrics are calculated for sessions lasting at least 60 minutes.
High-speed distance (%)
Percentage of total distanceThe percentage of total distance covered above 15 km/h.
What does high-speed distance percentage indicate?
It indicates how much of the total distance was covered above 15 km/h. It helps you compare the distribution of intensity across training sessions and matches.
Acceleration distance (%)
Percentage of total distanceThe percentage of total distance covered with acceleration above 2 m/s².
Deceleration distance (%)
Percentage of total distanceThe percentage of total distance covered with deceleration below −2 m/s².
Why analyse acceleration and deceleration as percentages?
The percentages show how the distance covered is distributed during the session. They help you compare training sessions and matches even when duration and total distance differ.
Read them alongside the absolute values for a more complete picture of the work performed.
Peaks
Maximum values that help you assess the most demanding moments of the session.
Peak one-minute distance
Metres in the best minuteThe maximum distance covered in one minute during the session, expressed in metres.
Why analyse peak one-minute distance?
It identifies the minute with the greatest distance covered. These peaks help you understand the physical demands of the most challenging phases of a match, which average values may make less apparent.
Maximum speed
SMax · km/hThe highest speed reached during the session, expressed in km/h.
What does maximum speed (SMax) indicate?
It is the highest speed reached during the session. To interpret it, consider your position, the context and the type of drill performed.
Energy
Data for a closer look at the energy cost and muscular demands of your performance.
Average metabolic power
AMPIt describes work intensity by considering both speed and changes of pace.
What does average metabolic power (AMP) represent?
It describes the rate at which energy is consumed during movement, considering both speed and acceleration.
It helps you assess the intensity of an effort even when running speed is relatively low.
Anaerobic index
%AIThe percentage of total energy spent at high intensity, above the 20 W/kg threshold.
What does the anaerobic index (%AI) indicate?
It indicates the percentage of total energy spent during high-intensity phases, above the 20 W/kg threshold.
It helps you assess the contribution of sprints, accelerations, changes of pace and explosive actions to your performance.
Muscle stress
%EDAn estimate of neuromuscular load obtained by comparing actual distance with the equivalent distance at constant speed.
What does muscle stress (%ED) indicate?
It is an estimate of total neuromuscular load. For the same distance, it can vary depending on the accelerations and decelerations performed.
It helps you assess how demanding the work was for your muscles.
Energy expenditure
BATThe total energy expenditure of the session, calculated from metabolic power over time and expressed in kJ/kg.
What does energy expenditure (BAT) measure?
It is the total energy expenditure of the session, expressed in kJ/kg. It combines work volume and intensity to provide an overall view of the physical load sustained.
Movement
Indicators for understanding movement asymmetries and how you use the pitch.
Imbalance
MovementAn indicator of asymmetries in body movement during physical activity.
What does the Imbalance Index measure?
It detects movement asymmetry between the right and left sides by analysing torso rotation during ground contact. It helps you observe possible imbalances or compensatory movement patterns.
Heatmap
Position on the pitchA visual representation of the areas of the pitch where you spent the most time or were most active.
What does the heatmap show?
It uses colours to show the distribution of your movement on the pitch. It highlights the areas where you spent the most time or were most active.
It lets you observe how you use space and relate physical data to your behaviour on the pitch.
Read and compare your data
Unsure how to combine several metrics? Start with these answers.
What does pace in metres per minute indicate?
It is the average distance covered per minute of the session. It helps you assess average workload over time and compare sessions of different lengths.
What is the difference between sprints and accelerations?
Sprints count bursts above 25 km/h sustained for at least one second.
Acceleration distance measures the metres covered while rapidly increasing speed above 2 m/s². Acceleration can occur without reaching sprint speed.
What is the difference between total distance and pace?
Total distance shows how far you travelled over the whole session. Pace shows how many metres you covered on average per minute.
Two sessions can have the same total distance but a different pace if their durations differ.
What is the difference between metabolic power and anaerobic index?
Average metabolic power describes overall work intensity, considering speed and changes of pace.
The anaerobic index indicates the percentage of total energy spent during high-intensity phases.
